The Speakers
Riley Lee
Riley began playing the shakuhachi in 1971. He is the recipient of
two of the oldest and most venerated lineages of traditional

the rank of dai shihan or Grand Master.
Koji Matsunobu
Koji holds PhDs in music and arts education and is a former Fulbright
Graduate Scholar. His training in piano and shakuhachi provides him
with a context of intercultural dialogues over human experiences
of music.
Australian Shakuhachi Society
The purpose of the Australian Shakuhachi Society, founded in 1996,
is to promote the shakuhachi and its music and to assist others who
are doing the same.
